CALLING ALL LGBTQIA2S+ YOUTH!

Stonewall Youth is here for YOU

Stonewall Youth is now offering in-person programs! After a few years of having all of our activities online cuz of the pandemic, we’re excited about providing an increasing amount of in-person activities and events. See below for more information.

Important small print: All of our weekly activities are for LGBTQIA2S+ youth ages 12-21 unless otherwise posted. BTW, we use “queer” and “LGBTQIA2S+” as shorthand to express the many gender identities and sexual orientations of the youth we serve, which includes lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, gender non-conforming, genderqueer, pansexual, and more! We also welcome youth who are questioning/exploring their gender identity and/or sexual orientation.

So, what are “drop-ins?”

Drop-ins are Wednesdays 4-7pm and Thursdays 5pm-8pm! Drop-ins normally go something like this... First, it means that LGBTQ+ youth can join us any time during drop-ins. You don’t have to contact us before stopping by the first time. Just show up! (But feel free to contact us if you want!)
Participants lead most activities at drop-ins, and if you’re inspired to do so, you’re welcome to lead a discussion, art project, or other activity! Most drop-ins are fairly unstructured to give youth the space to enjoy whatever activities they want that particular time. Youth regularly crochet, facilitate group conversations, play games, make yummy snacks in our new kitchen or have impromptu fashion shows with the clothes from our free store. Youth are encouraged to request items for particular crafts/games/etc!

Our space has an awesome art corner with a wide array of supplies- you’re welcome to help yourself to them during programming. A lot of our supplies would love to go home with youth who need it- just check with staff!

Stonewall Youth is youth-ledAlong with participating in activities, you’re invited to make activities happen! There are lot of opportunities for youth leadership, skill-building, and otherwise helping make Stonewall Youth fabulous. For example, we offer youth paid Fellowships as well as volunteer opportunities!

Resources and more!

Resources: We do our best to make free necessities available to low-income queer and trans youth, including food, gender-affirming items (such as cosmetics, wigs, and binders), clothes, school and creative items (such as notebooks and art supplies), and more. Here’s a request form for youth to use for essential items.

Workshops: During Drop-Ins and other times, youth are welcome to participate in a wide range of workshops and presentations on many different topics: self-defense, relationships, safer sex, oppression, self-care, queer history, street survival skills, job-search skills, racism, and much more. Most are led by youth staff and Fellows and some are led by adult staff and community members.
