Stonewall Youth's weekly Support Group is a great place to come and
make friends, get support, and build a fabulous and loving
community. LGBTQQ Youth have been meeting every week since
1991. This is an an opportunity to share what's going on in
your life, both your successes and your struggles. It is a
loving and compassionate environment for queer youth to get real and
honest with each other and build meaningful relationships and
support. We provide healthy snacks and treats! Each week
there are 12-25 youth who attend "group". Please come and join
our community.
The location
of Stonewall Youth is confidential, but after a brief telephone screening you
will be invited to join us for all our fun programs and activities
available to youth!!
The last
Wednesday of the month is fondly referred to as "Sex, drugs, and
rock n' roll". This is our discussion forum. We allow
the first half an hour for introductions, check-ins, and
announcements and then we discuss whatever the hot topic of the
month is. We have discussed many issues such as substance
abuse, dating violence, healthy relationships and boundaries, gay
parenting, safe internet dating, and much much more.
If you
need support and are uncomfortable sharing it in a group setting or
would like to come and meet with Stonewall Staff members, feel free
to call us at the office or pull us aside at group or any other
Stonewall Youth event. We are here for you and would love to
help support you with anything you may be going through.
Speaker's Bureau

Stonewall Youth has a
speakers bureau of youth up to 21 years old who identify as bisexual,
lesbian, gay, transgendered, queer, or questioning.
They speak to audiences at schools, community
organizations, social service agencies, and public events about their
life experiences as LGBTQQ youth.
This is an opportunity for youth to gain public speaking experience
as well as learn methods of facilitating groups, such as popular
education and theatre of the oppressed. Youth who want to
speak on the speaker's bureau will receive compensation for their
time as well as training before they speak to the community.
If you
are a teacher, social worker, community member, or anyone who could
use a training to improve your resources in your workplace, class
room or agency, we would be more than happy to set up a training for
you. We specialize on issues
relevant to LGBTQQ youth, such as (but not limited to):
-
sexual
violence and homophobia
-
homophobia, transphobia, sexism and
heterosexism 101
-
systems of oppression
-
how
to be an ally
-
anti-bullying
-
homelessness
among LGBTQQ youth
-
domestic
violence and sexual assault in LGBTQQ youth communities
-
LGBTQQ
youth in schools
-
support
and resources for GSA (“Gay/Straight Alliance”) school groups
-
gender
identity
-
community
building in groups
These
trainings are
presented by Stonewall Youth staff and youth.

Stonewall Youth
2008 Annual Queer Youth Retreat Review!
(aka "Gay Camp")
This year's camp was a
great way for us to kick off 2008. Organized by the Stonewall Youth
Speaker's Bureau, camp included workshops on gender, radicalism, youth
empowerment, challenging our current state of education, and body image.
We had over 60 people attending at the lovely Camp Solomon Schechter in
Tumwater. It was a great time to come together as a community, to talk
about what's going on in our lives, and to envision possibilities for the
future. It also made us excited for the next installment of Stonewall
Activism Summer School this August.
SASS '08 will give us even more time to build our movement from the ground up.
E-mail the Speaker's Bureau at
SYSB@Qwest.net for more
information.
Stonewall Youth Annual
Drag Show
(typically held in March)
Stonewall Youth has been
performing annual drag shows since 2000. This is an opportunity for
queer youth to get on stage and share their talent with the community.
Every year the show seems to grow, to get more creative and to draw a
larger crowd than the previous year. If you are interested in
performing in the next show please let us now. As of 2007 we have
started working with local artists to help direct the show and help us
channel our creative ideas. If you are a local performance artist
and would like to help, please call us!
We have LOTS
of other events.
